This past weekend was our anniversary weekend and we decided to have family day on Saturday. We were going to go to the Johns Creek Arts and Crafts festival but at the last minute I saw this post on FB about the Harvest Balloon Festival in Flowery Branch. They have hot air balloons so I thought that would be pretty cool to see.
We started off Saturday morning pretty rough, Callie had woken up practically every hour the night before. I’m not sure what was wrong with her but she would wake up crying, calling for us. At about the fifth or sixth time, we just let her cry…we were so exhausted! She would end up laying back down and falling asleep. So we woke up around 8:30ish and didn’t leave the house until around 12:30. We were hoping Callie would sleep a little on the way there (since she was exhausted from the night before too) but she didn’t 🙁 she was still a trooper and was in a pretty good mood.
We didn’t get to the festival until around 2 because they made us park somewhere else and take a shuttle to the festival location, this process took a lot of time but once we got to the festival we were happy.
The weather was peerrrrfect! Sunny and in the high 60s. We spent our time laying on the grass, eating BBQ and pizza and walking around. There was also this little island on the lake that we were able to walk to (via bridge) and take some pictures. We got in two lines for the inflatables and each time we got to the front Callie decided she didn’t want to get on anymore! lol…she loves trampolines but is pretty scared of the inflatables.
We found out once we got there that the hot air balloons weren’t going to arrive until 5:30! Which was unfortunate because by 4:45 Joshio and Callie were both done. Callie hadn’t taken her nap and Joshio’s feet were hurting. So we left and weren’t able to see the balloons but there is always next year!
Anyway, hope your enjoying the fall festivities this year!Share This:
