Hey Y’all!!! 🙂
Hope you’re having a great day so far. Joshio and I recently went on a little 2-night getaway to Chattanooga, TN. The last time we had gone to Chattanooga was when I was 8 months preggo. We went for our 5 year anniversary and also as a babymoon to spend some quality time with each other before baby arrived. I’ve always loved this city and I remember going often with my family when I was younger. There is so much to do and and many places to see.
We were in much need of some quality time together, I think mainly for me-haha! I’ve taken on a new role at church and have been busy with so many projects we’ve been working on. I was seriously getting stressed out. Joshio has been preoccupied with school, work and church as well and I wasn’t getting the quality time (my love language) that I wanted (I’m needy 😉 Also, Callie (my sweet angel) has been really whiny lately and it’s been driving me a little crazy. Whining is the worst! I feel like when they whine they reach a tone of voice that just strike a nerve and pushes the button of impatience lol. And the only thing you can do sometimes is say “Stop whining!” and even then sometimes they just don’t understand. So yeah, I needed to GO! I needed to sleep when I wanted, eat in peace, talk to my husband and just do whatever the heck I wanted for a few days.
I knew I wanted to get away with Joshio for awhile now but had no idea where to go or what to do. Everything I was searching was either too much money for only two nights and we didn’t want to travel far for such a short stay. I was trying to keep this trip as low key and low budget as possible so when we decided Chattanooga I did a search on groupon and found our hotel there. The total for our stay came out to $200 which isn’t bad considering the location and area we stayed in. We were right in the middle of the city, only blocks away from the aquarium and walking distance from restaurants. We had already gone to Ruby Falls and Rock City so we weren’t planning on going there again and I’ve been to the aquarium before and to be honest, it doesn’t compare to the GA aquarium so we didn’t want to spend money on that either.
Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and it was rainy and gloomy the ENTIRE time. We got there Monday afternoon and it didn’t stop raining. I was kinda glad we didn’t take Callie because trying to travel and get in and out of the car with a toddler (while it’s raining) can be very complicated and stressful. Don’t be fooled though, we couldn’t stop talking about her the entire trip! Lol, it’s so different traveling now without a child. As much as we needed time away and wanted some alone time, we missed her like crazy and always mentioned how Callie would’ve liked this or that and how we need to bring her here and there next time we come. After the first night we were both ready to go home and see her but I was like NO! We are staying here and doing this! hahaha!
Anyhoodles, that’s enough of my rambling..below is a detailed itinerary of what we did (just in case you want to go someday and need ideas) and pictures of our trip 2 years ago and now. Enjoy!

Itinerary For Our Recent Trip
Lunch at Cheeburger Cheeburger . Bought a groupon for $9 for $16 worth of food, we shared a burger and fries and it was perfect because we had room left over for dessert 😉
^This is probably the main reason we came to Chattanooga, the ice cream at the Ice Cream show is soooooo delicious!^
After Lunch and dessert, we checked into our hotel and chilled for a bit until dinner time (Nap time!!) We stayed at the Historic Choo Choo Hotel, this place was really cool!
Monday Night we went out to eat to Food Works, this restaurant was really good and only 5 mins away from our hotel.
^True southerner, with my sweet tea 😉 ^
^After dinner, we went to Rembrant’s Coffee for some hot chocolate and dessert^
It finally stopped raining for a bit so we took advantage and went to the Incline Railway
Once we were at the top of the mountain, we went walking to Point Park
After Point Park we went back to the Art District to Rembrandt’s coffee and had lunch. I had the best sandwich ever there (forgot the name). Then we walked around to take in the views and see some galleries and back to The Ice Cream show for you know what 😉
We went to Hennen’s for a steak dinner and it was delish! (sorry, no photos)
Wednesday was a short day cause we were ready to get home and see our baby 🙂 We walked around the property a bit (since it wasn’t raining) and then we stopped to have brunch at cracker barrel.
That’s All! Here’s a short video of our trip, I didn’t take too much video since it was raining often)
